Groundsman – Canberra (Full-time)

Are you passionate about maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces and ensuring high standards of landscape upkeep? BGIS is seeking a dedicated and reliable Groundsman to join our team based in Canberra.
The Role: As a Groundsman, you will play a key role in maintaining the grounds of an important government site. You will be responsible for ensuring that the outdoor areas are well-kept, safe, and aesthetically pleasing, while also meeting all safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, and weeding.
• Maintain lawns, garden beds, trees, and other landscape elements.
• Assist with pest and weed control, irrigation management, and mulching.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and site standards.
• Operate and maintain gardening tools and equipment.
• Report any hazards or issues to the Facilities Manager.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or similar roles.
• Knowledge of horticulture and landscape management is highly desirable.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills to liaise with team members and site stakeholders.
• Ability to operate gardening tools and machinery safely and efficiently.

Requirements:

• Australian Citizenship (due to security clearance requirements).
• Ability to pass pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.
• Valid driver's license.
