Permanent Part-time position (working 15 hours per week), over a 7 day roster

Overview The Gawler Health Service is seeking motivated and professional General Physicians to provide medical services to hospital inpatients. This will encompass patient review, admission and ongoing management of medical care referred via General Practitioners, metropolitan hospitals, or the Emergency Department. Conducting inpatient, ambulatory care and procedural consultations of patients, you will be involved in assessing, analysing, diagnosing, managing, treating, educating and supporting patients. You will ensure timely documentation of assessment, management, treatment and discharge planning for patients and communicate with other health care professionals as required. As part of your role, you may be asked to provide advice and general medical assistance in the management of patients in other areas of the hospital including the Emergency Department. Providing leadership and supervision to junior medical practitioners, nursing and allied health staff, you will encourage teamwork and cooperation. You will participate in quality improvement activities, administration, teaching, research and site accreditation, along with ensuring policy and quality is maintained and updated according to SA Health and health network guidelines. Holding a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, you will be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist General Medicine registration. This will be complemented by extensive clinical experience in acute general medicine. With a commitment to providing person and family-centred care, you will bring the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Your effective communication skills, both written and verbal, will equip you to interact positively with patients and their families/carers.
