Austop Fisheries is looking for experienced general fish hands to join our team operating out of Darwin. Role includes both sea time and shore-based duties.

Job description
Austop Fisheries is looking for experienced general fish hands to join our team operating out of Darwin. Role includes both sea time and shore-based duties.
Specific responsibilities of the position include:
- Handling ropes and wires, and operating mooring equipment
- Standing lookout at sea and adjusting the vessel’s course as directed
- Assisting with other aspects of vessel’s operations
- Performing ongoing maintenance and checks on all equipment
- Casting and lowering nets, pots, lines, and traps into water
- Hauling in fishing gear and removing fish and other marine life
- Sorting, cleaning, preserving, stowing, and refrigerating catch
- Fish filleting and processing
- Ensuring all aspects of the fishing vessel’s operations are always conducted safely
- Good level of physical fitness
- Demonstrated ongoing commitment to work health and safety and duties of care
- Sufficient English language skills to be able to perform all responsibilities efficiently and safely
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable experience working as a fish hand on a vessel
