About the Role:
The Community Engagement Officer will work as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team to plan, organise and implement centre engagement activities for headspace Marion.
The Community Engagement Officer will support the services through community engagement and participation activities and develop resources that supports enhancement of mental health literacy and reduces stigma related to mental illness in the wider community.
The Community Engagement Officer will also provide education, service information and present on relevant mental health topics to relevant community organisations, including schools and other groups. The Community Engagement Officer will also have responsibility for volunteer groups and committees including the headspace Marion Youth Reference Group and Family Advocates.
Experience Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience working within a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in the planning and delivery of community engagement and youth participation strategies and programs.
- Experience with working with young people living with or who have experienced a mental health issue.
- Experience and expertise with social media as a communication tool.
Qualification and Other Requirements:
- Drivers Licence
- Current or willing to obtain a Working with Children's Check (WWCC)
- Knowledge and experience in using the Microsoft suite of software and databases.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in either Youth Work, Community Development, Social Planning, Social/Behavioural Science, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Health Sciences (Health Promotion) or other relevant field. Or demonstrated substantial and extensive experience in the youth sector.
