Treasury is looking for a highly organised and motivated individual to work in the IT Network Infrastructure Team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for Treasury’s corporate network administration and support and operation of the Treasury’s Cisco unified communications endpoints and Microsoft Teams environment. This role includes Switching, routing, firewall, load balancing, video conferencing, telephony, audio visual collaboration systems.
The successful candidate is required to maintain a strong customer service focus while delivering a broad range of technical services to the Treasury and its stakeholders. The IT Network Infrastructure Team is responsible for the administration and management of Treasury’s PROTECTED network access including domestic and overseas WAN connectivity, gateway environment and datacentre as well as Wi-Fi, video conferencing and collaboration environment. The role may entail some work-related travel, occasional weekend work and a requirement to participate in the team on-call roster. The APS6 IT Networks & Communications Technician will have:
Demonstrated routing, switching and Wi-Fi knowledge and experience across a diverse range of networks
Experience administrating or supporting vendors such as Cisco, Palo Alto, F5 Networks and Aruba Wireless
Understanding of technologies such as multicast, load balancing, high-availability and routing
Ability to troubleshoot end to end network issues across a range of devices
Knowledge of MS Teams voice and video including integration with SIP based video conferencing systems
Network and systems monitoring, experience with tools such as PRTG
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken)
Ability to make sound decisions based on business outcomes
High level negotiations skills and ability to maintain positive, close working relationships with other support teams and service providers
Desirable Qualifications / Experience
A degree and/or tertiary qualifications or industry certifications in ICT and ITIL
Cisco CCNA and an interest in continuing to continue to broaden knowledge and training in networking technologies
Experience in Network administration in Federal Government
Exposure to Microsoft Azure, cloud networking and firewalling concepts
Candidates will be required to hold a current NV1 clearance at a minimum, or be willing to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
