About this opportunity
The NACC has an Agency Investigations Officer position available for immediate filling in either Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney. A merit list will be established to fill vacancies arising in the next 18 months.
About the role
Under general direction, the Agency Investigations Officer is responsible for assisting with the management of the agency investigations caseload and the administration of assumed identities. The agency investigation caseload is the investigations the NACC refers to jurisdiction and partner agencies to complete.
Key activities
Proactively engage with relevant stakeholders including agencies and representatives across the Commonwealth, State and private sector to ensure the NACC’s interests are maintained and critical relationships are managed.
Represent the NACC through active participation in relevant whole of government meetings and forums related to the use and maintenance of assumed identities.
Development of detail oriented regulatory records for the application, management and cessation of assumed identities to support the covert operations of the NACC.
Administratively manage group email inboxes, conducting relevant follow up enquiries to support the agency investigations and covert support functions.
Ensure the NACC meets its legislative obligations under Part 1AC (Assumed Identities) of the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth) and the National Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2022 (Cth).
Work collaboratively with other parts of the agency to ensure the workflow of investigations and data is accurate and timely across the lifecycle of an investigation.
Assist with the management of the agency investigations caseload and maintain accurate data for internal and external reporting, including for Senate Estimates and Parliamentary Joint Committees.
Lead the preparation of and participate in legislated audits.
Research, interpret and apply legislation, including maintaining knowledge of relevant legislation.
Assist with the management of property and exhibits within the NACC, including ensuring the continuity of evidence in support of prosecutions and investigative outcomes.
Position specific capabilities – desirable but not essential
Experience working in a law enforcement environment and/or working with discrete capabilities is desirable but not essential.
The NACC is a small agency. In addition to these activities, from time to time you may be asked to undertake tasks that are outside your usual span of duties but that are within the range of your capabilities. Supporting one another in this way provides opportunities for exposure across the agency and is an integral part of the NACC’s positive workplace culture.
Eligibility
Employment with the NACC is subject to the following conditions:
Citizenship – applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
Security clearance – this is a Designated Security Assessment Position. The occupant of this position will be required to undergo and maintain a security clearance to Negative Vetting 1.
Suitability assessment - the NACC must be satisfied that successful applicants are of suitable character. They must undergo a rigorous pre-employment suitability screening process that can be intrusive in nature including (but is not limited to) detailed background, character, employment, police and financial checks.
Probation - a probation period will apply to a new ongoing engagement in the Australian Public Service.
