APS 6 - Project Support Officer - JP9347 CE 4

  • $91,702 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% Superannuation
  • Canberra - ACT

The Role
As the Project Support Officer, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform and achieve complex project management work within an integrated workforce. You will need to have knowledge of and compliance with, legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
  • Manage a range of project activities and inputs in accordance with organisational practices and standards appropriate to the complexity of the project.
  • Facilitate administrative and coordination requirements, engage and coordinate resources, meet governance and reporting requirements; and support business planning and related activities.

The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of the Defence environment, and the agility to realign resourcing to meet new demands. We are seeking candidates with a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds in project management, finance, administration, procurement and/or contracting.

Flexible working arrangements and opportunities for home-based work can be negotiated, however, this role cannot be performed remotely on a full-time basis, as it is a classified office, based in the ACT.

An Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) is a mandatory requirement for work in areas of Defence that access sensitive information. This requirement applies to all categories of employees in such work areas, including Australian Public Service (APS) personnel, Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and contractors.

Organisational Suitability Assessments are conducted to determine suitability to work in a high security environment and/or hold a Positive Vetting (PV) security clearance. You must obtain and maintain a PV security clearance to work in designated areas of Defence.

The Organisational Suitability Assessment is an integrated assessment tool which comprises the completion of a consent form, written psychological tests, and where appropriate, a face-to-face interview(s) with a registered psychologist. You may be asked to participate in further psychological testing if required. In establishing your Organisational Suitability Assessment status, current and past assessments will be reviewed.

The assessment is administered in a manner which ensures informed consent, fair dealing with all applicants and employees, and the greatest possible degree of privacy and transparency of process.

Before you submit an application you should consider your own preparedness for questions that may include the following topics: personal relationships, living circumstances, personal values, financial situation, physical and mental health history including substances use, and any civil and/or military record.

The process is necessarily more intrusive than you will encounter in most other employment applications but it is important that you be honest and accurate in disclosing details about yourself. If you feel uncomfortable about having to disclose such detail then please think carefully before applying.

  • Innovative and adaptive thinking, and readiness to take accountability while taking a risk-based and flexible approach to delivering outcomes.
  • High-level written and oral communication, agility and flexibility, adeptness at collaboration, and ability to effectively manage within an integrated team environment.
  • Sound commercial and business acumen.
