The Role
Joint Proof and Experimental Unit (JPEU) is seeking a highly motivated Finance Officer to join the team at P&EE Graytown. They will work within a team of finance and procurement professionals and have a dynamic workload involved with business administration, systems improvement, finance and procurement.
The Finance Officer will undertake financial research and analysis, conduct assessment and investigations as well as provide procedural and administrative support to achieve results. They will interpret legislation, policy and procedures and provide advice within the unit.
Key Duties:
Monitoring and distributing information to stakeholders
Managing procurement/contract deadlines
Providing support to achieve procurement outcomes
Liaising with accounts to facilitate order-to-receipt process
Communicating requirements and discrepancies identified to stakeholders
Information and records management
Matching purchase order and goods receipt to invoices
Paying suppliers via purchasing card and reconciliation of expenditure
Ensuring compliance with Government policies and procedures
Analysis of budget forecasts
About our Team
The Finance Team is a part of JPEU’s Headquarter division, which provides overarching support to the entire unit. The Finance Officer will work within a small team of finance and procurement professionals. Employment at P&EE Port Wakefield includes a Special Defence Locality Assistance (SDLA) allowance of $309.85 respectively per fortnight, and P&EE Graytown has an SDLA allowance of $184.44 per fortnight.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be an individual with demonstrated experience in contract administration and management. They will be able to exercise knowledge of contractual compliance to Commonwealth Guidelines and processes and have experience in providing technical and professional policy advice. The ideal candidate will be technically competent in procurement from generation of purchase orders through to payment and account reconciliations.
A high degree of communication and interpersonal skills is advantageous for the position. The ideal candidate will be competent in managing their own workload, working autonomously when required, and contributing to team objectives. JPEU is seeking a candidate who is detail-oriented, driven to achieve high standards and provide exceptional support within the unit and externally.
The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of JPEU. In this role, the individual will provide support to a geographically dispersed team.
