The Staff Accountant II is responsible for supporting the Controller’s organization at the North Division’s Business Support Center (BSC). The position has the following major areas of responsibility: financial accounting and reporting, including month-end close processes; general ledger account analyses and reconciliations; preparation and posting of journal entries; internal reporting requests related to Division branches and Corporate; fulfilling requests related to internal/external audit and other ad hoc analyses and special projects. This role will work
closely with other members of the Division Accounting department, Division Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), North Division Regional Finance departments and the Central Accounting Group (“CAG”).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for month-end procedures and reporting requirements, including the generation of reports and the preparation and posting of journal entries.
Completes general ledger account analysis, research and preparation of account reconciliations.
Assists with the analysis of financial results for budget variances and exceptional trends.
Prepares reports to fulfill information requests from external and internal auditors.
Ensures compliance with the Company’s financial policies/procedures.
Maintains internal accounting controls that are consistent with Company requirements.
Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of industrial companies strongly preferred

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
Required Length & Type of Experience:
Two-plus years of accounting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To be successful, the Staff Accountant II should have a solid understanding of general accounting matters.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Google Workspace including Gmail, Drive, Sheets, & Docs as well as a demonstrated ability to utilize financial applications within SAP.
Exhibits customer focused behavior such as building positive relationships and strives to understand customer’s needs, both internal and external.
Ability to deal with difficult situations in a diplomatic and professional manner.
Excellent analytical and creative problem solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions based on investigation and judgment as well as ability to discern when to escalate issues.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adjust communication methods based on customer situations.
A positive approach and willingness to learn coupled with the ability to work in a team environment.
