Mid Lane Carriers is looking to hire a highly motivated General Yard Assistant for a full-time position. This individual must have the willingness to learn and work as a team player. This candidate must work efficiently and professionally in a team setting, entailing great communication with office staff and colleagues.
The General Yard Assistant will assist the main mechanic with any assigned tasks, projects, and maintaining the yard. This is mainly an outdoors job. (NOT AN OFFICE POSITION)

Qualifications:

Willingness to learn
Willingness to work as a team player
Knowledge of operating forklift (certification is highly recommended but not required)
Knowledge of yard goat driving
Knowledge of top handler/container handler operations (HIGHLY PREFERRED)
Physical Requirements: Individuals must be able to climb ladders, kneel, crouch, carry, push, and pull objects and materials up to 60 pounds.
Chassis maintenance/repairs knowledge (preferred but not required)

Responsibilities:

Minor repairs and maintenance of chassis trailers
Mounting/Unmounting of gensets using a forklift
Assisting main mechanic with any task for the day
Yard inventory of container and chassis
Stacking and unstacking chassis
Check statuses of reefers and gensets
Monitoring Genset fuel levels
Assisting with fueling of gensets when required
Develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with employees, managers, and representatives from other departments
Reporting issues/accidents to dispatcher
Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
Retrieve parts as needed
Able to fulfill tasks as needed
Able to drive between locations
