Teacher of the Visually Impaired - York, PA

Contract Length: 36 weeks

Compensation: Up to $65/hr based on experience

Job Description:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students

Provide direct instruction in Braille, assistive technology, and other skills needed for academic success

Adapt classroom materials and teaching methods to meet the needs of visually impaired students

Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student learning

Conduct assessments to determine students' visual and functional vision needs

Offer guidance and training to school staff on best practices for supporting visually impaired students

Maintain accurate and thorough records of student progress and services provided

Education and Certification Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education for the Visually Impaired or a related field

Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Pennsylvania

Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for visually impaired students

Experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting is preferred

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Ability to develop and implement effective teaching strategies for visually impaired students
