Training Center Manager Job Description


Pay Range:
$68,250 - $78,750, annually.

FTE: 1.0 Salaried, exempt position.

JOB SUMMARY:

Description: This position works to increase the awareness of and interest in the Peer Wellness Specialist (PWS) training both statewide and nationally. As the Manager, this role outreaches to relevant behavioral health organizations throughout the US to introduce the Peer Wellness Specialist training in tandem with Director of Training and Outreach (including culturally specific), deliver presentations about the PWS training, support organizations to book and set up trainings. This position will connect coordinators to provide logistical support in the coordination of training across the USA. The manager will also support ongoing training and development of the coordinators to ensure facilitation is in keeping with MHAAO and peer support core values and principles.


Additionally, this position will develop PWS materials and resources, updates, and maintains curriculum including approval status. Collaborate with MHAAO departments to train staff and market cohorts. Collaborate on contract reporting with Director of Training and Outreach. Supervise Training Center coordinators. May develop additional curriculum outside of the Peer Wellness Specialist training on an as needed basis.



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in hiring of PWS facilitators and supervise day-to-day duties, including collaboration in training dates, scheduling coverage to support PTO including facilitating when needed, and processing complaints or addressing complex situations with training participants.
  • Support ongoing training and development of the facilitators to ensure facilitation is in keeping with MHAAO and peer support core values and principles.
  • Oversee Black/Afrocentric PWS Training Cohorts, including but not limited to scheduling, coordination, administrative and logistical duties, including facilitation when needed. In addition to ensuring contract/grant deliverables are met.
  • Collaborates with OPTIC Director to develop Training Center and PWS specific policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with OPTIC Director and Marketing Manager to market the PWS training.
  • Collaborates with Marketing Manager to update information and cohort schedule on the MHAAO website.
  • Collaborates with program directors to train MHAAO staff.
  • Provides on-going outreach to community partner organizations and collaborates with Director of Training and Outreach to contract for the PWS training and/or support.
  • Conducts follow-up studies/surveys of all completed training to evaluate and measure results. Modifies programs as needed.
  • Considers technology and software to improve efficiency of the Training Center and/or PWS Training.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications for Position:
High school diploma or equivalent; and three to five years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license for occasional outreach efforts.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Ability to work independently within parameters outlined by the Director of Training and Outreach.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret mental health and addiction periodicals, professional journals, or government regulations.
  • Ability to navigate and research on the web.
  • Ability to create user-friendly training materials.
  • Excellent teaching and presentation skills for diverse audiences including professionals, peers, and the general public.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual platforms such as Zoom.


Prior Experience Required:
Must have experience working with mental health and addiction peers and an understanding of the mental health peer movement. Extensive experience in writing, and public relations and ability to effectively communicate in a variety of mediums and settings is required. Experience facilitating and developing training. Must have 2 years of continuous addiction recovery and possess belief in the principles of recovery.

Amount of Travel and Any Other Special Conditions or Requirements:
This position requires some overnight travel.
