Techos Pa' Mi Gente (TPMG Corp.) is a non-profit organization dedicated to reconstructing dignified roofs and rehabilitating homes in communities affected by natural disasters in Puerto Rico. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals in these communities by empowering them and providing training in basic building skills to enhance resilience. The Community Resilience Coordinator VISTA will play a crucial role in advancing TPMG's mission by developing and implementing programs that empower community members to prepare for and respond to future disasters. This position focuses on designing a calendar of activities and workshops aimed at increasing community resilience, coordinating volunteers for these programs, and developing protocols for community support plans. By engaging directly with residents, local partners, and volunteers, the VISTA member will help build a more resilient community, ensuring that individuals have the resources and knowledge needed to recover from disasters and break the cycle of poverty.
Member Duties : The Community Resilience Coordinator VISTA, will play a pivotal role in building a more resilient community. Responsibilities include designing a yearly calendar of resilience-building workshops and activities, engaging the community in disaster preparedness, and fostering a culture of resilience. Working closely with the Community Outreach and Engagement VISTA, the Community Resilience Coordinator will identify community needs, develop volunteer-driven initiatives, and promote engagement in ongoing resilience programs. The VISTA will recruit and train a team of volunteers, preparing them to support the community programs and activities. They will also review and refine protocols for disaster response, developing practical, community-specific procedures to better equip residents in times of need. Through these initiatives, this VISTA will empower the community to face future challenges, build sustainable support systems, and strengthen community resilience against disasters.
