Student Services Specialist – Middletown
Overview:
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College is seeking a Student Services Specialist responsible for providing one-stop student service access at our Middletown Campus location. This position requires an individual that is professional, detail-oriented, methodical, and dependable with excellent technical skills that is able to demonstrate sound judgement. The array of support provided will include everything from pre-enrollment services through admissions and registration processing, scheduling of tutoring and writing services, and providing basic library information and research assistance. This position serves as a liaison between students and the Office of Disability Services, Financial Aid, Business Office, Admissions and Registration Departments.
Essential Duties:
- Assists new and continuing students with all student services processes, providing an overview and guidance for program selection, career choices, admissions, registration, business office and financial aid.
- Assists students with the financial aid process from initial application through the awarding of aid, and the review of financial aid options, application requirements, deadlines, federal and state grants, loans, as well as other funding options such as scholarships, payment plans, and third-party service providers.
- Meets and corresponds with students to facilitate the full-cycle student services processes.
- Assists students with program selection and coordinates with the admissions recruitment team to ensure a smooth transition from applicant to student.
- Acts as a resource for students for college policies and procedures, ensuring students understand their rights and responsibilities.
- Provides resolutions to an assortment of academic and administrative issues of moderately complex scope.
- Provides analytical reports to faculty and administrators.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- 2 years of relevant experience in higher education student services that demonstrates skills in student support services, online learning environments, and marketing and communication initiatives
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university in communication, psychology, counseling, education, social work, or a related area

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to handle complex situations with diplomacy; and computer proficiency in generating analysis of data
- Ability to communicate/interact effectively with a diverse professional, staff, community, and student population
- Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities
- Strong commitment for providing outstanding student services for contributing to student success
- Initiative to work independently as well as self-motivated team player with emphasis on customer service for internal and external customers
- Maintain a philosophy of integrity and confidentiality
- Demonstrates commitment to continuous quality improvement
