Department: HARBORCREST CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY UNIT
Position Opening: Specimen Test Tech

Salary Range: $18.61- $29.30 per hour based upon union contract

Position Summary: The Specimen Collection Tech performs various patient care activities and
related non-professional services necessary to care for the personal needs and comfort of patients and
Urine Drug Screen customers. This position assists the professional staff in providing care to a group of
patients, collecting Urine Drug Screens and is responsible for the various clerical support functions
required for maintaining the Urine Drug Screen accounts and the medical records of patients on the
CDU unit after discharge and monitoring physician compliance. This position will process the CDU
discharged charts and retrieve and file medical records for CDU.

Job Requirements: One (1) year previous hospital experience preferred; education in medical
terminology and computers, knowledge of basic math functions, basic telephone skills, ability to read
charts and inform physician of necessary compliance issues; good/positive written, oral, telephone,
organizational and interpersonal communication skills; ability to prioritize duties and work as a part of a
team; accurate grammar, spelling, arithmetic and English usage; attention to detail; ability to work in an
environment that may include hazardous drugs/material and infectious diseases; able to lift 30 lbs. from
floor to waist; ability to lift 10 lbs overhead; able to safely use a step ladder to obtain/replace charts
located in upper shelves; demonstrates accurate judgment/decision making ability consistent with
knowledge and skills; demonstrate quality administrative skills in accordance with established
policy/procedure.
