Summary of Job Duties:
Reports to Adult Education Director

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To serve SNAP E&T clients in assigned counties. The coordinator has a primary duty to provide career services to participants which will lead to improvements in their education levels or lead to employment or upskilling as needed.
The coordinator's role is to help remove barriers to childcare, transportation, and other areas that will allow participants to improve self-sufficiency.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Serve as participant case coordinator and help in the development of an individual education/career plan.
2. Conduct timely preliminary assessments of participants’ TABE score(s) & Educational Functioning Level.
3. Process weekly referrals received from SNAP E&T Central Office.
4. Follow guidelines in DHS SNAP E&T Handbook and Manual.
5. Identify participant barriers and develop solutions to eliminate or reduce barriers.
6. Accurately maintain up-to-date participant files and community resource manuals.
7. Submit monthly progress reports on time to the program director and state E&T coordinator.
8. Complete career services provider training and utilize those skills to counsel and advise participants.
9. Provide documentation of professional development records as requested by the director.
10. Communicate and collaborate with the director/staff to recognize participant achievement.
11. Create an Employment Plan for each participant and update as needed.
12. Visit local business and industry; Maintain an employment board with job leads for participants.
13. Use technology to assist students with employment searches, post-secondary research, and career planning.
14. Monitor participants’ monthly progress and provide steps to maintain successful progress.
15. Utilize the LACES database information to stay abreast of participant attendance and academic progress.
16. Attend job fairs and other community events to promote E &T services; Provide reverse client referrals.
17. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required; three years of experience in program administration or related area. Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Additional Information:
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Ability to instruct adult participants and effectively manage classroom behavior.
  • Ability to offer quality customer service to internal and external LEA clients.

Salary Information:
$35,000.00
