Location:
New River Intermediate School Based Health Center
Provides primary health care following established standards and practices. Works in a manner consistent with NRHA mission, goals and standards of conduct and care. Patient Care Responsibilities:
Provides primary health care services by reviewing patient records to determine health status
Takes patient history
Performs physical examination and/or developmental screening examination on children
Records pertinent patient data
Determines appropriate specialty referrals
Makes decisions regarding data gathering and appropriate management and treatment of patients including appropriate laboratory studies
Identifies normal and abnormal findings in history, physical examination and laboratory studies
Performs clinical procedures such as care and suturing of minor lacerations, control of external hemorrhage, removal of superficial foreign bodies, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and pulmonary function testing in accordance to their practice agreement
Performs therapeutic procedures such as removal of impacted cerumen, anterior nasal packing for epistaxis, incision and drainage of superficial skin infections
Provides counseling and instruction regarding common patient problems
Follows policies and procedures for: Ensuring the confidentiality of patient records and the preservation of human dignity, Clinical Care, Medical Records- electronic and paper
Maintains all professional activity schedules including on-call and hospital coverage schedules and patient scheduling protocols
Actively participates in the building of the NRHA Health Care Team including the development of systems and protocols for the improvement of patient satisfaction, access to primary care services and the quality of care provided to patients
Operational Responsibilities:
Participates in Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Programs
Participates in clinical, educational and administrative meetings.
Precepts medical, physician assistant and nurse practitioner students
Secures and maintains appointments to the staff of such hospitals and medical facilities as the Chief Medical Officer determines
Attends staff meetings as scheduled
Meets position standards as specified in contract
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of an accredited medical school.
Current West Virginia medical license.
Board Certification in the appropriate area(s).
Knowledge of professional medical theory, practice, and care to administer and evaluate patient care.
