Rental Technician
Rental Technician Responsibilities
Rental Technicians are responsible for daily rental operations and have four different levels of experience and knowledge. Each level requires specific knowledge of rental services, equipment types, rental operations, etc., including some responsibilities outside of the primary job function or department. Below are the responsibilities for each Rental Technician level. Other than Level I, expectations for all listed items in the next level must be met prior to be promoted into that level.
All Rental Technician levels are required to have open availability for Christmas break, MLK weekend, Presidents’ Day weekend and Spring Break, unless previously authorized by the Store Manager and Rental Supervisor.
Level I ($16.50)
A Level I Rental Technician is for employees without documented rental experience or cannot meet the requirements under Level I+. A Level I associate is expected to quickly learn how to properly size rental customers with the proper boot and know the difference between rental and demo boots. They should also be able to properly fit helmets and poles. To move from Level I to Level I+, all knowledge and expectations in Level I+ must be met.
Level I+ ($17)
Complete rental technician certifications for all vendors
Ability to setup all skis and snowboards and match customers with proper equipment and sizes
Full knowledge of rental packages and pricing
Ability to troubleshoot and assist customers with setting up an account in the reservation system
Ability to navigate Point of Sale system
Full knowledge and demonstrated ability to tech snowboard and all snowboard related equipment
Know how to navigate all aspects of the rental/reservation site, including managing returns and charging customers
Interdepartmental knowledge and experience requirements
Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour

- New sales
- Adding customer and customer type
- Returns/refunds
- Gift card sales/redemption
Full knowledge and demonstrated ability to tech snowboard and all snowboard related equipment
- Properly sizing rental customers
- Knows the difference between rental and demo snowboards
- Familiar with all rental and demo snowboard binding types
- Ski demo binding compatibility with ski boot types
Know how to navigate all aspects of the rental/reservation site, including managing returns and charging customers
Interdepartmental knowledge and experience requirements
- Service work offerings and pricing
- Bootfitting services and prices
- Ability to schedule bootfitting appointments
- Ability to complete basic tuning work
- Buff wax
- Use of edging machine
- Hot wax
- The Rental Supervisor will assign rental stations and assignments daily (stations may be different each day and assigned based off store needs.)
- It is the Rental Technicians’ responsibility to ensure their assignments are completed by the end of their shift.
- Tech station must be cleaned, and tools must be put away neatly for the next Rental Technician.
- Report low rental equipment to the Rental Supervisor
Pay: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour
