This position supervises the daily operations of the registration, pre-registration and/or prior auth functions for the facility and its ancillary services. Ensures delivery of high quality, cost-effective and customer-friendly services to all patients and providers. Ensures work-flow efficiency. Ensures the use of available services is maximized in ancillary departments through the efficient scheduling of patients, tests, and procedures. Provides training and oversight to staff ensuring patients are assisted in an accurate and timely manner, insurances are verified and authorizations obtained, and that specified electronic medical records procedures are used. Resolves problems and conflicts among people and processes. Identifies quality improvement opportunities and takes appropriate action.

- Compensation: $25.88 to $40.44 hourly wage based on experience and education

Schedule:
Full-time, Exempt 40 hours per week, 5x8 hour day shifts, Monday through Friday with occcasional weekend coverage
1 remote day/week opportunity post-training

Responsibilities:
- Supervises the operations and staff for the registration, central scheduling, pre-registration and/or prior auth areas. Fosters a culture that reflects the core values and polices of the department and Foundation Health Partners. Achieves facility goals, maximizes usage of available services, and meets departmental goals in procedural accuracy, team productivity, and client satisfaction of physicians and FHP staff. Sets goals, coaches, monitors, and corrects performance of staff. Assures goals are achieved, and applicable workflows and processes have been followed. Manages staff schedules and timecards.
- Manages personnel actions including recruiting, new hire actions, interviewing and selection of new staff, training, and performance management. Adheres to and participates in the development the department budget. Schedules staff to insure appropriate staffing levels at all times, while maintaining labor expenditures within budget guidelines. Provides daily leadership and motivates staff to provide the highest level of service and performance. Retains a high performing team.
- Measures work outcomes against goals for applicable teams. Prepares and maintains unit statistical reports and maintains statistics and goals by team and individual. Develops implements and manages work procedures to ensure that tests, procedures and surgical procedures are scheduled appropriately, and that all preliminary instructions are fully and accurately delivered to patients. Investigates and resolves problems to ensure successful processes.
- Provides information on patient registration and/or scheduling to all concerned departments. Maintains ongoing positive communications with patients, staff, physicians and other third parties to provide information or resolve issues. Maximizes cash flow by maintaining and monitoring the protocols and activities associated with the financial management of the patient account, including up-front cash collections (if applicable).
- Proactively engages in process improvement. Identifies needs, updates and improves work processes and methods. Provides opportunities for strategic departmental improvements and communicates suggestions appropriately. Coordinates and participates in special projects as assigned.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Foundation Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.
Qualifications:
Requires an Associate's degree in business, hospital management, or related fields or equivalent education, experience and knowledge.
Requires skills normally acquired over three (3) or more years of medical office work, including previous experience with hospital registration and prior authorizations. Must have experience with office management, employee leadership, and/or employee supervision in a healthcare insurance and billing setting. Business skills and experience in the assigned work area are required. Must possess medical terminology knowledge, as well as experience with Medicaid plans and Medicare billing.
Requires the ability to make independent, on the spot decisions, to resolve problems as they arise and to anticipate and prevent future problems. Requires the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and to effectively use common office software. Must have effective human relations and interpersonal skills.
As is typical in this industry, variable shifts and hours, and on-call duties may be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional clinical knowledge and experience is advantageous.
Experience with Cerner or MMS4 applications is preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
