Rail Crew Foreman / On Track Knuckle Boom Truck Operator

(Am Rail), a leading provider of railroad material take-up services to the Railroad industry, with operations throughout the United States, has immediate openings for 1 Rail Crew Foreman / Grapple Truck Operator. We are offering a very competitive salary and benefits package for a Grapple Truck Operator with on-track rail and OTM picking experience. Foreman Responsibilities Include: Leading a crew of 2-4 Laborers in the processing and removal of railroad rail and other track material with a hi-rail grapple truck. Adherence to individual Railroad and FRA safety standards and company policies. Accurate communication and reporting (both written and verbal). Preventative maintenance on all equipment. Essential Functions (Foreman/Operator):

Responsible for daily crew scheduling and meeting production goals set by management.
Communicate in a professional manner by phone and in person with all levels of internal personnel and railroad customer contacts.
Skillfully operate a boom-truck; this includes but is not limited to, picking up and loading 10' to 42' long pieces of railroad rail into a rail-cart towed on track behind your grapple-truck, picking up and loading rail under 10' and any other track material scrap into the bed of the grapple-truck, moving the truck using remote drive while in the Operators seat, loading and unloading materials without causing damage to equipment, setting the grapple-truck and rail-cart on and off track safely and efficiently.
Load/unload semi-trucks and railcars using the knuckle boom grapple.
Segregate railroad materials using knuckle boom.
Operate a cutting torch well enough to teach other employees to torch-cut railroad rail.
Perform preventative & general maintenance to all equipment.
6 days per week, 60 hours per week is typical.
Must be able to take direction from immediate supervisor and implement plans accordingly.
Adherence to Company safety rules & regulations as well as working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations; FRA safety regulations and technical developments effecting workplace safety.
Accurate reporting of required data both verbal and written, some computer work is necessary requiring completion of Company forms submitted electronically each day.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL driver’s license.
Must have a minimum of 2 years CDL drivers’ experience.
This position will require 3-weeks consecutive travel per month.
Minimum of 2 years previous experience in railroad boom truck operations.
Must be able to pass a pre-offer drug test and will be subject to FRA random drug testing.
Knowledge of operations; leadership, organization, good communication, good mathematical skills; and basic computer competency.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
Sit or stand for extended periods of time, bend at waist, twist upper body, walk, and/or otherwise move around uneven surfaces and on railroad ballast.
Climb up and down ladders on equipment.

Job Conditions:
Dusty, dirty, and noisy; work outside subject to temperature extremes and adverse weather conditions.
Physical hazards are present due to the equipment and machinery in use and working in close proximity to railroad operations.
