The main objective of the QPC Technician I is to ensure that all gypsum wallboard produced meets or exceeds regulatory standards and customer expectations. This position provides quality and process technical support to Manufacturing by ensuring raw material, process, and products tests (performed individually or by other plant personnel) are carried out in a consistent, accurate and timely manner. The technician is also responsible for understanding the upstream drivers of variability, interpretation of abnormal results, assisting in problem solving and corrective actions as well as the training of operators in proper testing methods.
Essential Duties 65% • Perform daily product testing to maintain manufacturing specifications as per control plan. • Perform required testing on QC Hold product and conclude its disposition. • Assist in accurate movement of stock being placed in and/or out of QC Hold by monitoring & supporting production with proper documentation and placement. • Escalate critical issues to the QPC Manager and/or to the concerned supervisor, to maintain product quality. • Supports 3rd party testing (i.e., analytical samples, other qualifications) and completes regular competitive benchmark testing; maintains and reports results. • Supports QPC Manager with raw material issues by monitoring, collecting, and testing samples as needed. • Able to place orders for lab supplies and perform other admin tasks as needed. • Supports plant level Change Management protocols by monitoring & identifying changes in process parameters.
25% • Support quality step 0 audits such as operators’ qualifications and track compliance and conformance. • Support the development & usage of practical quality defect reaction plans & assist in the investigation of defective product claims to determine root cause of escapes. • Assist in developing/maintaining a trouble shooting guide for common process defects. • Assist in set up & sustainment of basic control charting for critical process feeders and parameters. • Assist team in developing Training Videos / SOP

Assist Area Process Engineers in conducting new product and process trials to improve cost/performance of raw materials & other innovations. Participates in advanced projects to address gaps using systematic problem-solving approaches.
Other Duties 5% • Establish and maintain the highest degree of housekeeping through 5S in the QA lab. • Actively contributes to WCM (World Class Manufacturing) processes (Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing). • Offers suggestions or recommendations for improvement of safety and quality in the plant. • Acknowledges others when spoken to in a professional manner. • Resolves interpersonal differences in a professional manner. • Utilizes Area Improvement Boards and other meetings to communicate and tracks all quality issues. • Other tasks assigned by Supervisor or Manager to meet the QPC department needs.

Excellent computer skills (Microsoft office tools such as Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, etc.)
Forklift experience
Preferred
Manufacturing experience
Familiarity with safety programs in manufacturing

IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
8 Hour Shift from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM on production days and 7:00 to 3:30 PM on non-production days(must be able to flex hours to support 24-7 operations).
Dry and Dusty conditions at times
Primary work area is indoors (plant and lab) with varying temperature conditions depending on the outside weather.
Some outside work is necessary but is very limited.
Heaters and Fans are in place throughout the facility to maintain a comfortable work environment.
