Department Overview
PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Position Summary
Position headquarters flexible within the PG&E Service Territory.
This position is “hybrid” with the expectation of minimum monthly office visits, but will also require 50-75% travel required within the Power Generation Hydro service territory.

Participates in the Power Generation Hydro project execution group that manages high risk diving activities utilizing a programmatic approach. The purpose of the program is to provide safe, cost effective, and timely response for underwater inspections, repair and construction services for all diving activity in Hydro and to support other PG&E LOB’s as requested. Manages all aspects of the underwater dive work from resource planning, scoping, contracting, dive work oversight, to demobilization and project closeout.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $​122,000
Bay Area Maximum: $​194,000

California Minimum: $​116,000
California Maximum: $184,000

Responsibilities: Fosters a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with PG&E’s contractor safety program in all aspects of the Power Generation Dive Program. Monitors the field implementation of Power Generation Dive Procedures, contractor performance, and their safety plan and qualifications. Coordinates with internal and external resources including, contracts, inspection, engineering, facility safety, asset management, project management, O&M and other SME’s to develop a scope of work, field service contracts, and for managing the execution of the work. Identifies and incorporates industry best practices into the dive program to reinforce safe, timely, quality and cost-effective solutions from the dive program team and dive contractors. Review dive requirements and determine the most effective execution methodology. Support the review and approval process of project submittals as requested. Shares industry best practices with key stakeholders, placing a strong emphasis on resources that provide contractor oversight in the field. Works with the Dive Program Manager by supporting planning and execution of dive work, or by sharing best practices and lessons learned in development of their self-managed dive programs and dive work. Provides consultation regarding compliance standards and applicable codes, standards and regulations. Supports DPM with development and management of the dive program. Reviews awarded proposals and identify any modifications or changes that need to occur for planned execution time frame.
Determines the need for and impact of changes in the scope of the project and adjust as necessary. Advises on contractor staffing changes or needs as project progresses. Completes evaluation of contractor’s performance at project completion.
Participates in site visits to perform contractor safety observations and audit compliance with the program

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
High School or GED, diploma
Association of Diving Contractors (ADCI) Dive Supervisor / Diver
8 years in Commercial Diving / ROV, Operations and Supervision
50-75% travel required within the Power Generation Hydro service territory

Desired Qualifications:
Associate Degree from 2-year collage or technical school or equivalent experience Knowledge of standard dive (diving) concepts, methods, best practices, techniques, and regulations (US Navy Dive Manual, ADCI, USACE, Cal OSHA, OSHA) as needed to perform at the job level Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences Competency in planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals Ability to develop reports, models, and simulations as needed to perform at the job level Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products - for example Excel, Word, Power Point, Access - as needed to perform at the job level
Knowledge of the technical/functional aspects of the trade, occupation, or role as needed to perform at the job level
Power Generation Hydro service territory has various weather that is encountered in the Sierra Nevada’s, which include heavy rain, snow and freezing temperatures
