Power Plant Operations Shift Foreman
Due to an upcoming retirement MPU is looking for a new team member!
The Power Plant Operations Shift Foreman provides Power Plant and operating shift crew oversight to ensure safe and efficient plant operation through constant monitoring and controlling of plant systems and the correction and reporting of deviations. The Shift Foreman provides leadership and work direction for the crew including the Assistant Plant Operator and Fireman-Boiler Operator assigned to the shift.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates and monitors all phases and aspects of steam turbine generators, combustion turbine, natural gas fired package boilers, sales steam and district heat systems.
Recognizes off normal conditions and takes appropriate action to protect personnel and equipment utilizing operating procedures, abnormal operating procedures, process drawings, technical manuals, etc.
Interfaces with MISO, and ATC as required for dispatch and operation of the steam turbine generators and combustion turbine. Operates in accordance with ATC Code of Conduct standards.
Provide training, technical and operation instruction to Assistant Operator and Fireman/Boiler Operator.
Assumes some or all of the duties of the Fireman-Boiler Operator and Assistant Plant Operator as needed or directed.
Observes plant safety rules to set the standard for crew members, performs all tasks in a safe manner and is alert for unsafe acts and conditions.
This role is on a rotating operating shift (swing shift). The schedule is set at the end of the year for the entire upcoming year.
Sample of Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High school degree or equivalent is required, 2-year college degree preferred.
Previous power plant and leadership role experience preferred.
Starting Pay Rate: $47.10/hour
