Per Diem Psychiatric PMHNP
Office Locations: Litchfield, Torrington, New Britain, Waterbury and Danbury
About This Position:
CJR is currently seeking per diem psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner to provide direct services to children, adolescents and adults within CJR’s Wellness Centers for Children and Families in several locations, including Torrington, Litchfield, New Britain, and Waterbury. This PMHNP will provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, ongoing treatment, and medication management. In addition, the PMHNP will work as part of a provider team of psychiatrists and clinicians, provide consultation, review, and guidance to clinicians on shared cases through regular participate in case consultations and supervision. This is a per diem position and does not include benefits, pay will be rendered for held appointments. Hours will vary based on client need. This position requires Board Certification or Board Eligibility in addition to experience working with juveniles and their families in a community-based setting. Assume medical responsibility for patients/clients under their direct care and supervision
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments/evaluations and mental status examinations (MSEs) of patients/clients leading to a multi-axial diagnoses according to the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) approved by the American Psychiatric Association (APA)
Adhere to and implement Wellness Center policies and procedures related to clinical care
Provide specialized expertise in the development and implementation of individualized mental health treatment planning for assigned patients/clients
Provide consultation, review, and guidance for clinicians in the evaluation and treatment of patients on a routine basis
Sign off on treatment plans indicating medical necessity
Produce thoughtful, clinically sound and high-quality written documentation including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes
Communicate with the Wellness Center Director and Medical Director regularly
Maintain all necessary paperwork as it relates to third party billing
Maintain files and ensure paperwork is filed in a timely fashion
Focus on Client Needs: Anticipate, understand, and respond to the needs of internal and external clients to meet or exceed their expectations within program parameters
Ability to communicate, cooperate and serve people from all cultural identities with respect, professionalism, integrity and fairness in a manner that recognizes the individuality of each person
Foster Teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance program effectiveness
Qualifications/ Requirements:
Board Certified or board eligible in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry
Experience working with a diverse population
Clinical experience and knowledge specifically pertaining to adolescent development, mental illness, influences of trauma, and coping skills
Experience with individual therapy with adolescents as well as family therapy
Experience with an Electronic Clinical Record
Excellent communication and written skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to formulate and articulate diagnosis
Ability to formulate positive collaborative relationships with the community, funding sources, governmental relations and our client base
Ability to work independently
