Position Summary:
The Patient Transporter provides a high level of customer service and support to inpatient hospital and on campus clinic outpatient departments by performing safe and timely transport of patients and/or specimens to designated destination.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Basic Life Support (BLS). Completes certification process within designated time frame and/or retains certification through renewal process every three (3) years.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Individuals must possess the ability to work in a fast paced and physically challenging environment; capable of meeting performance metrics; possess high level of professionalism and customer service; possess effective oral and written communications skills; ability to work on a team supporting patient care operations and transport needs. Physically capable of meeting the demands of moving and transporting patients and walking long distances.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates ability to safely assist with moving patients onto transport devices and to safely transport patient to designated destination.
- Appropriately responds to emergency situations when transporting patients.
- Properly uses and stores equipment.
- Independently receives dispatch for transport assignments and obtains needed equipment for patient transport.
- Completes assignments within designated timeframes and meets department productivity standards regarding the number of transports performed per shift.
