The Patient Accounts Representative plays a crucial role in managing patient accounts and ensuring accurate billing and collections within a medical office environment. This position involves working closely with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to resolve billing inquiries and maintain accurate medical records. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing processes to facilitate efficient account management.
Duties
Helping with receivables and Medicaid application for patients
Manage patient accounts by verifying insurance coverage and eligibility.
Process medical billing and collections for services rendered.
Review and resolve discrepancies in patient accounts, including coding errors.
Utilize knowledge of ICD-10, DRG, and other coding systems to ensure accurate billing.
Maintain up-to-date medical records in compliance with regulatory standards.
Communicate effectively with patients regarding their accounts, including payment plans and outstanding balances.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure proper documentation for billing purposes.
Stay informed about changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices.
Job Requirements
At least two year experience with receivables and/or Medicaid applications.
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Proficiency in medical office operations and procedures.
Strong understanding of medical coding, including ICD-10 and DRG systems.
Familiarity with medical terminology and its application in billing processes.
Experience with medical records management and compliance standards.
Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts efficiently.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
