Operations & Maintenance Supervisor – The Operations and Maintenance
Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the maintenance and repair of
the wastewater collection systems for the Authority and providing reliable and efficient wastewater services. This role works closely with the wastewater pump station team to oversee the operations, maintenance, and repair of the wastewater collections system, which includes manholes, gravity sewer lines, force mains, closed circuit television (CCTV) sewer line inspection, residential and business sewer connections, lift stations, and odor and corrosion control. When working in the field there is exposure to dirty, noisy, and dusty conditions and disagreeable odors and unpleasant weather.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads, directs, and oversees the daily operation of the Authority’s wastewater
collection systems and appurtenances.
Leads, directs, and oversees operation and maintenance activities to include
establishing a preventative maintenance program and a maintenance tracking system.
Oversees the performance of wastewater contractors, and enforces Authority
contracts, as directed by supervisors.
Provides focus and momentum for continuous improvement in the reliability
and “up time” of the Authority’s collection systems.
Responsible for ensuring that all downtime, or other operating issues, are
reported accurately and in a timely manner.

Ensures the effective utilization of labor resources, and assigned assets, to
maximize productivity.
Ensures that assigned staff receives proper training.
Addresses any deficiency identified in government inspections, internal audits
and/or compliance studies and ensures that the corrective actions resolve the deficiency.
Electronically monitors the routes of equipment operators/drivers.
Ensures that assigned vehicles are properly maintained and that an adequate
number of vehicles are available to meet Authority wastewater requirements.
Manages subordinate staff and establishes measurable operating objectives,
goals, and service levels for all subordinate functions.
Participates in the investigation of all accidents and environmental spills,
releases, or violations. Assists in developing appropriate corrective actions.
Knowledge of Wastewater Operations in the following areas Collection System,
Pump Stations, and Treatment Plants.
Responsible for preparing reports, securing confidential data and other
administrative duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED from an accredited school is required.
Three (3) years of relevant experience in wastewater operations, maintenance, or
pump station operations is required.
Certification as an Operator is preferred.
Valid Virgin Islands Driver Licensure is required.
