Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Oil and Fuel Lab Technician who will be responsible for conducting various tests and analyses on oil and fuel samples that support production engine tests, developmental tests, and off-site customer requests. The role requires proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring cleanliness, and adhering to ASTM standards. Lean training and a background in chemistry are essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment including but not limited to:
  • Calorimeter
  • Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)
  • Particle count machine
  • Hydrogen analysis equipment
  • Sulfur analysis equipment
  • Viscometer
  • Flash point tester
  • Acid digestion apparatus
  • Particle analysis tools
  • Water analysis (Karl Fischer titration)
• Ensure the cleanliness and proper functioning of all laboratory equipment and workspaces.
• Understand and apply ASTM standards in all testing procedures.
• Analyze test results and prepare detailed reports for publication.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate completion of tests.
• Maintain accurate records of all tests and analyses performed.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean training programs.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards.

Qualifications:

• Associate's or High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution.

Preferred Experience:

• Previous experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in oil and fuel analysis.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.
• Strong understanding of ASTM standards and testing procedures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Lean training and certification is a plus.
• Experience with data analysis software.
• Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Knowledge of safety and quality standards in a laboratory environment.

Working Conditions:

• Laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and testing equipment.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• May require occasional lifting of equipment or samples.
