Job Requirements:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado and compliance with all state and local regulations to practice as a school nurse.
- Experience with special education students and their families is highly preferred.

Job Duties:
As a Registered Nurse in a school-based role, you will be responsible for managing the medical care and health needs of students. Typical duties include:
- Health Screenings and Assessments: Performing routine health screenings (vision, hearing, and general wellness) to identify potential health issues and ensure students are fit for school participation.
- Emergency Care: Providing first aid and medical care for injuries or illnesses that occur during school hours, including administering medications and treatments as necessary.
- Chronic Condition Management: Developing and implementing care plans for students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies, epilepsy), ensuring proper care and follow-up.
- Collaboration with Special Education Teams: Working closely with special education staff, including teachers, therapists, and counselors, to create and manage Individualized Health Plans (IHPs) for students with special health needs.
- Medication Administration: Administering prescribed medications, ensuring proper protocols for storage, documentation, and safe administration practices.
- Health Education: Educating students, parents, and staff on health topics such as illness prevention, hygiene, nutrition, and chronic disease management.
- Monitoring and Documentation: Keeping accurate records of all health assessments, treatments, medications, and student progress in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
- Parent Communication: Regularly communicating with parents/guardians about their childs health status, care plans, and any medical concerns or updates.
- Health and Safety Protocols: Ensuring the school follows health and safety guidelines, including proper medication storage, emergency preparedness, and infection control procedures.
- Crisis Management: Responding to medical emergencies and coordinating care with emergency personnel, when needed.
