Qualifications
- Must have NMSchool Nurse certification or Statement of Eligibility from DOE
Must have active license in NM
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to students with acute illnesses or injuries, including assessment, first aid, and treatment.
- Administer medications and medical treatments according to physician orders and school policies.
- Monitor students with chronic health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, allergies, and seizures, and implement individualized health plans as needed.
- Conduct health screenings and assessments to identify health concerns and provide appropriate interventions and referrals.
- Collaborate with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and healthcare providers to develop and implement plans for students with special health needs.
- Educate students, staff, and families on health-related topics, including nutrition, hygiene, safety, and disease prevention.
- Maintain accurate health records and documentation of nursing assessments, treatments, medications, and communications with parents/guardians and healthcare providers.
- Participate in school-wide health promotion initiatives, such as immunization campaigns, health fairs, and wellness programs.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide emergency care and support as needed.
Adhere to professional standards of nursing practice, ethics, and confidentiality.
