What You Will Be Doing
In this comprehensive role, responsibilities include interpreting and enforcing statutory requirements and regulations regarding driver licensing and compliance actions. Tasks involve administering the state's point system, revoking licenses for various violations including alcohol-related offenses, setting up administrative hearings, managing documentation for license actions, collaborating with other agencies for enforcement purposes, and ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with federal regulations. Additionally, duties encompass handling paperwork for administrative hearing cases, conducting point reviews, training new employees, and providing statistical data for review by supervisors and various government agencies.

The DMV strives to have a positive atmosphere for our employees to flourish. The Anchorage Driver Services team follows that philosophy and works hard to be a home away from home. The MVCSR 1 has a personal cubicle space alongside the rest of the team.

We are nestled in a quiet area of the DMV headquarters, and staff is grouped in small pods for easy communication and effective collaboration. ADS has open doors and management works hard to be available for you whenever the need arises whether its through one-to-one meetings, pop-in talks, teams messaging or phone calls, our goal is to be there to support you.

Who We Are Looking For
  • Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Compliance: Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with Federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Flexibility: Is open to change and new information; adapts behavior or work methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles; effectively deals with uncertainty.

NOTE: Fingerprint & back ground check is required for all DMV employees. Must be able to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Minimum Qualifications
Six months of employment experience that included cash handling and working directly with clients or customers. Examples of qualifying experience include such work as sales cashier, bank teller, food service wait staff or cashier, and so on.
OR
Six months of office clerical employment experience providing information to clients, customers, or the general public on services, procedures, and requirements, which included entering or retrieving data using computer systems.

Substitution:
Postsecondary education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience. (Three semester hours or four quarter hours equal one month.)
