Responsible for assisting RNs and/or clinicians with cardiac monitoring, interpretation, measures, documentation and procedures related to cardiac monitoring; Monitor and record physiological measurements including obtaining six second strip as indicted by patient condition/physician order; Responsible for identification of patient arrhythmias, abnormalities or significant changes from baseline and reporting on the condition of patient to the RN/provider or appropriate supervisor; Initiates and discontinues monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge; Performs configuration as necessary; Care and maintenance of cardiac equipment.

Documents and interprets patient’s heart rhythm and rate by utilizing telemetry recordings; Performs clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information from the central monitoring unit; Maintains log books; Documents in the EMR

Receive, screen and coordinate telephone calls from patients, families and healthcare providers; Answers telephones and communicate clearly when receiving information from units or providers; Uses clear, complete and timely communication with the unit team when delivering information about changes in patient rhythm.

Orients and mentors new team members; Serves as a resource for training and troubleshooting to both the central monitoring unit and clinical areas; Troubleshoots monitors with nursing team and contacts Bio-med as appropriate; Are required to give report to oncoming shift.

Prioritizes and organizes work assignment and adjusts priorities based on changing situations; Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work in a stressful environment; Maintains and stocks all designated equipment/supplies, including telemetry monitors; Replaces defective equipment and reports failures to Bio-med.

Develops a rapport and cooperative relationship with nursing and clinical team as well as responds to questions/requests from healthcare providers; Adheres to confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, clinicians, employees, and visitors.
