Purpose
Under the direction of the DC Manager, the Inbound Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising all warehouse activities of an assigned work team on a multi-shift basis, by directing assigned Supervisors and Team Members in the areas of inbound operations, appointment schedules, Quality Control of product integrity and receipt accuracy. In addition, the Inbound Operations Manager is responsible for all Inventory Control operations and processes. Lead and direct Team Members in the areas of inventory accuracy, safety, productivity, sanitation, customer service, and food safety. Promote positive Team Member relations. Ensure proper implementation of company rules and policies. Drive all operations in a manner consistent with service and cost objectives.
Responsibilities
Responsible for Inventory Control operations and staffing
Oversees compliance of cycle count requirements and reporting of inventory shrink
Drives the budget line of shrink and adjustments
Manages communication when variances occur
Responsible for the cross communication between shifts, departments, and vendors when necessary
Leads and drives the Food Safety Committee
Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly warehouse
Oversees timely disposal of damaged, out of date and bad food products
Maintains safe disposal practices in accordance with Food Safety regulations and policies
Ensures proper food safety practices are always maintained
Responsible for all inbound operations and management
Drives the wage and turnover lines
Oversees all inbound appointment scheduling in C3
Manages vendor compliance
Manages and coordinates the most efficient unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking, and put-away of products in accordance with SOPs and the highest possible levels of quality while maintaining cost effective staffing models
Manages Quality Assurance staff ensuring the highest standards of product quality are adhered to in accordance with company SOPs, processes, and procedures
Ensures all security policies and procedures are followed
Manages store called credits, shorts, and damages in AS400 according to company guidelines
Ensures inbound shipments are accurate and free of damage
Ensures the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment
Ensures Team Members follow all safety policies and procedures
Thoroughly investigates and reports all safety accidents and violations in a timely manner
Conducts operations in accordance with OSHA, Food Safety and MSDS Standards
Directs the operations of the assigned shift to achieve prescribed objectives
Drives all operations in a manner consistent with service and cost objectives
Conducts shift meetings and other staff meetings to relay general information or to address specific topics, such as safety
Plans work schedules and assigns duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads
Anticipates variances in staff and workload
Prepares and maintains work records and reports of information such as Team Member time and wages, daily receipts, and/or inspection results
Collaborates with Team Members, Supervisors and Managers to solve work-related problems
Evaluates Team Member performance and prepares performance appraisals
Counsels Team Members in work-related activities, personal growth, or career development
Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary measures
Visible and accessible on the warehouse floor.
Assess training needs of Team Members and arrange for or provide appropriate instruction
Schedules and instructs Team Members on SOP process and expectation
Resolves personnel problems, complaints, or grievances when possible, or refers them to higher-level Managers for resolution.
Performs other duties as requested
About You
Associate degree preferred
Two (2) years supervisory experience in a high-volume material handling business
Previous experience in food distribution production environment preferred
Proficient computer skills utilizing Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong leadership and time management skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a multi-task environment
Good organizational skills: with ability to manage multiple projects with high level of attention to detail
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel up to ~10% of the time, which may include weekends and evenings, as needed
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled environment
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
