Long-Term Substitute- Upper School English Teacher

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Hawai'i Preparatory Academy seeks a long-term substitute Upper School English Teacher for a term beginning in mid-November and concluding in early January 2025. This role involves engaging high school students with a curriculum emphasizing critical thinking, literary analysis, and effective communication. The ideal candidate will bring creativity and a passion for English literature and composition, supporting students in developing a strong foundation in reading, writing, and analytical skills.
Qualifications:

Minimum of two years of teaching experience, preferably in English or a related field
Degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
Experience with high school students, accommodating various learning styles and assessment methods
Strong content knowledge in English literature and recent developments in English pedagogy
Ability to collaborate with colleagues across grade levels and within the department
Excellent communication skills and a commitment to engaging with the school community, including students, parents, and colleagues
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and dedication to fostering student confidence and curiosity. Specifically: two sections of English 10, three sessions of English 12

Additional Responsibilities:

Advisory role, grade-level curriculum planning, and student activities as needed
Must have or be able to obtain a CDL license for student transportation purposes
