Living Center Nurse Manager
16-bed patient care facility Working closely with the Acute/ER Director of Nursing and HAMC's Cheif Nursing Officer Organizes and administers the nursing department serving the Living Center. The Manager is an active member of the administrative team and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of quality care in the Living Center, non-skilled Swingbed setting. Establish the goals and objectives for the nursing department of the Living Center. Implement administrative policies established by the governing authority. Preparation and administration of the budget for the Living Center nursing service department.
Must be a qualified Registered Nurse; employed full time.
Minimum of five years of experience; at least 2 years of administrative or supervisory experience or other relevant employment history deemed by hiring committee.
Must be able to demonstrate the skills, the abilities and the personal attributes needed to satisfactorily assume the responsibilities of this position.
Must possess skills in communication, leadership, education, and be able to motivate employees.
BLS Certification required.

Complete or verify KRONOS for Living Center staff with the assistance of the Administrative Assistant.
Provides continual evaluation of programs for future needs.
Demonstrates ability to coordinate all nursing activities, including administration and delivery of nursing services to residents, nursing education and monitoring of compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
Creates an environment and climate for all personnel to practice safe, high quality, individualized nursing care.
Keeps staff informed of plans, problems and progress.
Collects and analyzes data to determine staffing patterns: utilizing the data to project staffing needs, to hire personnel, and to insure adequate staffing on the nursing units according to resident needs.
Organizes, plans and directs nursing departmental functions and other activities to comply with established policies and procedures and to achieve long and short term objectives.
Participates in planning and directs orientation of professional and nonprofessional nursing staff.
Maintains compliance with nursing care standards.
Investigates problems, complaints, and policy violations. Takes appropriate action, with follow-up as indicated.
Evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of the nursing care delivery system.
Works with finance and nursing leadership utilizing nationally recognized staffing patterns to properly staff the Living Center.
Represents the facility in community activities and educational activities as required.
Assures adequate supplies and equipment are maintained.
Works to improve and simplify the medical records system while insuring timely quality documentation.
Implements GSHA objectives as determined and directed by the governing body.
Works cohesively with other health care professionals to maintain census and to ensure high quality care will be rendered to the residents at all times.
Works with management staff to help motivate all staff and develop effective recruitment and retention programs.
Reviews and evaluates the work performance of assigned personnel as well as counsels/disciplines assigned personnel according to established personnel policies.
Promotes positive intradepartmental relationships; promotes collaboration between departments; provides consultation, counseling and guidance. Utilizes a problem solving approach in resolving problems with other departments and the medical staff.
Facilitates maintenance of substantial compliance with Federal and State regulations and laws, in collaboration with all departments.
Actively participates in the facility’s quality assurance process to assure compliance for federal and state regulations.
Maintains a familiarity with OBRA requirements, state regulations, facility policy and procedures, and professional standards of practice.
Provides/coordinates inservice education to selected facility personnel regarding any necessary topics/issues.
Work with DON on plan for transition of Acute or Skilled Swingbed overflow into the Living Center. Work with Living Center staff to decrease anxiety over the care of these patients.
All other duties as assigned.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a well-lit, well-ventilated, temperature controlled office environment. Position has regular contact with residents, resident family members, general public, community leaders, physicians, other healthcare providers, staff, Board members, and others.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires prolonged sitting or standing; some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires the use of office equipment, such as telephones, calculator, computer software (i.e. Excel, Word & Internet) and copy machine. Requires normal vision and hearing range, and ability to speak. Requires ability to distinguish letters, symbols, and work number accurately.
