Purpose: The Landscaper is responsible for maintaining our World Class Resort’s terrain to include the operation of electrically powered and gasoline-powered groundskeeping equipment and machines. The Landscaper plays a key role in contributing to our hotel grounds maintenance support team, and The Buccaneer’s Mission. Essential Functions:
Manage the care of the Buccaneer’s landscape by seeding, watering, mulching, and fertilizing outside plants.
Operate small hand power tools, planting, and trimming equipment to trim and edge around the trees, flowers, sidewalks, and buildings.
Continuously inspect inside the facilities’ flowers to ensure that plants are watered and presentable to guests.
Inspect the Buccaneer’s landscape of plant materials for signs of insects, disease, physical and mechanical damage.
Perform regular and directed landscaping maintenance by mowing lawns using the riding or push mowers, including raking, sweeping, bagging leaves, debris, dirt and trash from the streets, sidewalks, parking lots, tunnels.
Facilitate and assist in the area of technical expertise to coordinate, adjust, repair and clean the irrigation systems.
Remove trash and debris from public areas and the facility to the designated central collection points.
Regularly inspect grounds, drains, and manhole covers for debris.
Practice all procedures and work instructions with safety in mind and follow all safety policies.
Report hazards immediately to supervisor.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of landscaping or related experience, required.
The ability to utilize tools and the machinery needed to install and repair irrigation systems, preferred.
Working knowledge of synthetic grass installation system, a plus.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, stretch, and stand for an extended period.
Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
Ability to work under pressure and exercise good judgment.
The ability to maintain confidentiality of The Buccaneer Hotel guests, proprietary, and pertinent hotel information.
Ability to carry out specific oral and written instructions.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Available to work a shift schedule, nights, and weekends.
Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
Basic computer skills, a plus.
