Description: POSITION SUMMARY The overall purpose of the Housekeeper/Housekeeping Assistant position is to perform scheduled housekeeping tasks as may be assigned by the housekeeping supervisor. Housekeeper/Housekeeping Assistants may mop, sweep, dust, wash windows, shampoo and vacuum carpets, arrange furniture, etc., and generally clean furniture, equipment, fixtures and hardware. FUNCTIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES The following represents the essential functions of this job to be used to determine if an individual with a physical or mental impairment can perform these functions with or without reasonable accommodation. The other functions listed may be required of all other staff in the position. Essential Functions
Using proper chemicals, tools, and equipment, dusts, vacuums and cleans assigned areas including living areas, furniture, fixtures, vents, lavatories, and basins as scheduled.
Is knowledgeable about and assures compliance with all company policies.
Using proper chemicals in proper proportions may dust-mop or wet-mop or spot- mop floors, or, as necessary, strip, seal, wax, and buff floors.
Empties trash containers, replaces liners as appropriate and disposes of trash in proper receptacles.
Must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods.
Must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting.
Vacuum and/or shampoos carpets as necessary.
Utilizes proper chemicals/equipment to wash and dry windows.
Reports repair needs to supervisor or maintenance department as appropriate.
Identifies and corrects safety hazards and abides by safety rules.
Performs other duties/tasks as may be assigned.
Requests needed supplies/equipment from supervisor.
Requirements: TYPICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Physical ability to lift/carry/operate equipment and supplies is necessary.
Experience in institutional housekeeping or maintenance is helpful.
Experience in the use of floor-care equipment is helpful.
