JOB SUMMARY: The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for leading and teaching group exercise classes in a safe and appropriate manner. Classes such as: Cycling Body Sculpt Hard body 45 Core Boot Camp. QUALIFICATIONS: JOB SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES:
Strong Communication Skills: Supervisor is made aware of finding coverage for classes when substitute instructor is needed, checking HWC Email weekly, greeting members with exceptional customer service.
Adaptability: Is flexible to needs of members with all backgrounds, gives member full experience at the level appropriate for them, has positive outlook when there is a change in schedule.
Responsible attitude to health and safety: Performs safe and effective group ex classes, remains knowledgeable and proficient in services, and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
Time management: Arrives before start of class time to set up and stays after for proper cleaning and attends scheduled meetings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs safe and effective group exercise classes
Arrives before start of scheduled class time to set-up, clocking in according to the GEI clock-in policy
Greets members and guests by name and with a smile, and delivers world-class customer service at all times
Finds substitute instructors for own classes when needed and notifies Group Exercise Supervisor and/or Fitness Manager of changes. When a sub cannot be found, finds a replacement instructor to offer a replacement class of a different format, but as similar as possible to the original class
Follows established procedures when equipment is found to be malfunctioning in an effort to return it to operational status as quickly as possible, including notifying the Group Exercise Supervisor and/or Fitness Manager, and recording the problem in the equipment log binder
Is knowledgeable, aware of, and proficient in all facility rules, regulations, and policies, and enforces them when applicable
Is knowledgeable and aware of current information on all center programs, services, and activities, and promotes them regularly
Responds to all emergency situations according to facility policy and procedures
Maintains high level of professionalism, in accordance with organizational standards of behavior
Maintains continuously all annual education requirements (CBL?s) and BLS/CPR certifications
