We have an exciting opportunity open for a Gas Supply Buyer/Scheduler with the ability to work remote from AR, OK, TX, MO, SC, TN, KS, ME, FL, NJ, NY or LA.



This position will have a Monday thru Friday 10 pm – 7 am work schedule and will be the weekend on call scheduling representative.



POSITION SUMMARY:
Purchases, nominates, confirms, and monitors gas transportation and storage activities on intrastate and interstate pipelines to effectuate gas flow and fulfill Company’s gas supply requirements for service to its sales customers and ensure the integrity of Company’s distribution system gas supply.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions:

  • Monitors weather forecasts and pipeline transportation allocations and assists buyers with projections of gas demands and makes nomination changes as necessary to keep gas supply in balance with market demand.
  • Responsible for entering daily supply paths into the Gas Supply transportation system.
  • Collects and monitors electronic flow measurement data for Company receipt and delivery points each day, communicates gas flow positions and pipeline orders to team members, and adjusts nominations in order to minimize imbalances and to aid in the optimization of Company’s gas supply portfolio assets.
  • Studies and builds knowledge of upstream pipelines tariffs, monitors pipeline electronic bulletin boards for critical information, including operational restrictions and emergencies, and communicates the pertinent information and pipeline orders to team members and Gas Control, and changes nominations when necessary to comply with the pipelines’ critical information postings.
  • Maintains knowledge of rights and obligations under Company’s gas supply, transportation, asset management agreements, and storage contracts; applies this knowledge to the gas purchasing and nomination process to ensure compliance with contract obligations and to optimize use of contract rights.
  • Assist in updating contents of gas purchasing and nomination files; verifies gas management system data and audits accuracy of system data.
  • Analyzes daily and monthly gas volume flow data, including transport imbalances and storage balances, and prepares reports to management as needed regarding such gas flow activity
  • Understands gas flow over pipeline systems, both theoretically and operationally, to insure a working knowledge of the economic impact of nominations and balancing decisions on the Company.
  • Assists Gas Supply Administration group with estimating gas supply and transport cost for use in monthly accounting close, verifying pipeline and gas supply invoices for accuracy, and responding to internal and external audit requests for multiple jurisdictions.
  • Assist with regulatory proceedings and data request.
  • Develops and cultivates favorable relationships with gas marketers and pipeline personnel to promote the benefits of conducting business with Summit Utilities.
  • Performs duties inherent in all professional and administrative positions. Consistent with all positions in the classification, additional projects, tasks and/or duties beyond what is outlined here may be assigned as required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A four-year degree in business administration or some related field. Related work experience may be substituted.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with natural gas supply agreements.
  • Must have the ability to problem solve and exhibit critical thinking skills.
