SUMMARY:
Leads the supply chain function and activities for the DRT Precision Sidney operation, including direct responsibility for Purchasing and Planning and supervisory leadership of material handling, shipping and receiving functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Purchases a variety of goods and services through negotiation and supply management processes for multiple sites.
Maintains vendor relationships, vendor performance and company quality objectives.
Manage MRP reports and lists.
Review workload in the manufacturing areas. Coordinate bottlenecks with supervisors.
Attend and participate in regularly scheduled meetings about workflow, policies, outsourcing, etc. involving various departments.
Processes purchase requisition to purchase order by data entry via purchase order fields and all vendor receipts through the ERP system.
Maintain data integrity via computer skills for all Purchasing-related data including cost, safety stock, lead-times, minimums, multiples, supplier data and other purchasing ERP fields.
Buys a variety of goods and services through negotiation, vendor management, value analysis and the development of vendor/company relationships.
Develops new vendors through vendor research, evaluation and performance. Coordinates vendor approval with Quality control and existing processes and procedures.
Maintains vendor relations so that DRT can expect to receive quotes/info in a timely manner.
Orders goods and services through the ERP purchase order system by quote, bid or MRP system; orders product to meet company specifications.
Expedites the delivery of purchase orders with the supply base.
Manages performance issues including NCMRs with supply base.
Manages Non-Disclosure agreements and Certificates of Liability as required.
Approves invoices for payment.
Communicates with various departments to maintain a constant flow of materials, processes and information.
Reviews engineering drawings and forwards to the appropriate supplier for outside sub-contract materials and services.
Reviews reports for commodity management and product/vendor analysis. Coordinates information from engineering, purchasing, production control and manufacturing to support the master schedule.
Continually evaluates data, reviews purchased item history via part number/commodity analysis.
Maintains the ERP system with current information and communicates all relevant information to other departments.
Manages purchase price variance’s
Perform other duties assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise shipping/receiving and material handling team.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: including Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or Associate’s degree with relevant experience
3-5 years’ experience as in supply chain related roles including Buyer/Planning roles.
Strong interpersonal skills as there are much interaction with all departments within the Company.
Math and blueprint reading skills necessary to understanding routing of work throughout the Company.
APICS course preferred.
CPM and LCS Certification preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of programs – Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be fluent in English with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing drawings, technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
REASONING ABILITY:
Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
