We are seeking a phlebotomist/lab technician who shows exceptional venipuncture and lab handling skills. This individual would also be responsible for processing of the conventional lab work in preparation for send-out, as well as for our Advanced Diagnostic Functional Medicine Testing such as blood, salivary testing, urine testing, hair analysis, etc. Between draws, and as needed, candidate would also assist at the front desk with answering phones, scheduling, checking patients in and out, and would report to our Practice Manager to be of assistance as needed when not otherwise needed in the laboratory. Types of Testing Our evaluation protocol may include tests of the urine, blood, stool, hair and saliva to accurately diagnose imbalances which contribute to the patient's overall health. We have an in-house lab where we draw for patient's labs on day one of their appointment. We see both adults and children alike, and Dr. Erickson has a special segment of his practice focused on children on the autism spectrum. For this reason, many of our pediatric draws can be especially challenging, and we are seeking an individual with particular experience with pediatrics, and a comfort level with patients that comes with seasoned hands-on experience. Duties
Perform venipuncture and phlebotomy procedures to collect blood samples from patients.
Process specimens for testing, ensuring proper labeling and handling according to established protocols.
Maintain aseptic techniques during specimen collection and laboratory procedures to prevent contamination.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely delivery of test results and address any discrepancies.
Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, ensuring they are clean, calibrated, and functioning correctly.
Document all laboratory activities accurately in compliance with medical terminology standards.
Assist in maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment by adhering to safety protocols.
Additional Responsibilities
Check in and check out patients as needed
Schedule patients both in office and over phone
Manage inventory and package vitamin orders
Requirements
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is essential for effective communication within the healthcare team.
Experience in patient care settings is required, demonstrating the ability to interact compassionately with patients during specimen collection.
Familiarity with clinical laboratory practices, including specimen collection processing and quality control measures.
Proficiency in aseptic techniques to ensure the integrity of samples collected for testing.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to complete individual responsibilities effectively.
Candidate would be needed 2-3 days/week. Days will alternate as we coordinate our schedule with our Ohio location. We will be as flexible as possible when choosing the 2-3 days per week, and will do our best to work around your personal schedule as often as possible. We are a faith forward, family oriented practice, and we respect and appreciate when our staff prioritizes family as well. Must be available to work Monday-Friday 8:45 AM to 5:00 PM on those days scheduled, with some additional flexibility at the end of day to allow for completion of lab processing on an as needed basis.
