The Storm Lake Fire Department is accepting applications for a part time Fire Inspector.
Under the direct supervision of the Fire Chief, this position will be responsible for conducting thorough and professional inspections of buildings, structures, facilities, sites, and/or suppression systems located within the City of Storm Lake. Work hours will be daytime during the work week with the possibility of an occasional evening or weekend event. On average, this position will work 16-24 hours per week, but may include periods of increased workloads.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, two (2) years’ experience in a Fire Department and the following: Iowa Firefighter 1 certification, Iowa Firefighter II certification (ability to obtain within one year of employment) Iowa Hazardous Materials Operations Certification, current CPR Card. Knowledge or ability to learn First Due administrative functions. Graduation from high school and considerable experience in the building trades and firefighting or any equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Ability to work well without continuous supervision.
