JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting the service team in exceeding the guest’s expectations. Teamwork, organization, and good awareness are necessary for success in this position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Other duties can & will be assigned as needed):
Assist service team with all food and beverage service.
Effectively service a minimum of an six-table section within one week of start date.
Understand and complete all side work as assigned.
Follow all steps of service as covered in training.
Understand and read an order, either handwritten or computerized.
Complete ice, water, bread, butter/oil service, according to restaurant specifications.
Greet guests with a warm, sincere smile and anticipate their needs.
Learn all table and position numbers within one week of hire date.
Confirm that each order has appropriate preparation, plate ware, garnish, presentation, necessary serving utensils and is complete before taking it out of the kitchen.
Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions. Check each order for special orders/restriction before taking it out of kitchen.
Use tact and good judgment when dealing with difficult members. Respond to their needs with patience and courtesy.
Safely carry food to a table of three in a single trip.
Must say the name of the food as it is being served to diner.
Communicate any additional information to guests (eating instructions, special sauces, etc.).
Carry dirty dishes to dish pit area of kitchen, according to restaurant specifications.
Remove and wrap leftovers, according to restaurant specifications.
Clean and reset a table within one minute.
Keep tables free of dirty dishes, glassware, silverware, bottles, and any other debris.
Maintain silverware service, when necessary.
Crumb and wipe tables when necessary.
Check garbage for restaurant supplies, i.e., Silverware, ramekins, etc.
Safely and efficiently operate all equipment necessary to the Server Assistant position.
Must wash hands regularly, according to guidelines.
Move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven and slick surfaces.
Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures.
Pass a Server Assistant Skills test with a score of 90% or more.
Be able to stand and walk for an entire shift.
Communicate cordially, effectively, and clearly with all employees, managers, and members.
Communicate in English to comprehend and perform job requirements.
Accept direction and constructive criticism from management.
Perform more than one task at a time.
Perform calmly and effectively in an extremely busy and stressful work environment.
Be able to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends and increased work schedules.
Work in a confined, crowded space of variable noise and temperature levels.
Lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
