Position-Family Specialist (Bilingual English/Spanish preferred)- this is a full-time, non-exempt, hybrid position. Monday through Friday, typically 9am-5pm with flexibility - morning and evenings.

Program Description
The Short-term Adjunctive Youth and Family Engagement (SAYFE) program is a comprehensive, full-service partnership (FSP) for 40 of the highest risk children/youth living in San Mateo County. SAYFE is designed to help children and youth achieve independence, stability, and wellness within the context of their culture, community, and family/caregiver. SAYFE seeks to stabilize youth in the community using natural support structures and through working in collaboration with San Mateo County.
Position Summary:
The Family Specialist is a member of our multidisciplinary team whose role is to serve parents, caregivers, and non-professional supportive adults of our youth (ages 6-18). This individual provides family-based mental health counseling, support, crisis-intervention, and case management services to children and families. The Family Specialists provide services at the program site and in the community, including, but not limited to, hospitals, schools, and family homes. The Family Specialist demonstrates great communication skills with clients, families, and program staff.
Essential Functions:
- Provide intensive home-based services, intensive care coordination, individual rehabilitation, collateral, assessment, plan development and case management services consistent with the Wraparound Model.
- Participation in providing on-call coverage to the clients and their families during business hours as part of a therapeutic treatment team.
- Participation in all treatment reviews, program staff meetings, and IEP meetings when necessary.
- Complete mental health notes and other paperwork as indicated.
- Implement clinical policies and procedures and actively enhance communication, coordination, and integration of care with other Edgewood service areas and with external providers.
- In collaboration with SAYFE leadership, perform functional behavioral analysis, interviewing youth, caregivers, and treatment team members such as therapist, social worker, school staff, documenting relevant history, identified target behavior, antecedents/triggers, environmental factors, response to behavior, etc.
- Collaboratively develop Behavioral Plan, including specific target behavior frequency, duration and intensity, specific interventions, transition plan, plan to assist caregiver, formulating Behavioral Plan in collaboration with family and treatment team, obtaining signatures and overseeing its consistent implementation.
- Attend and participate in weekly supervision, group supervision, team meetings, and program trainings and meetings
- Maintain accurate documentation and paperwork including but not limited to time sheets, reimbursements, and mileage.
- Maintain professional behavior at all times, appropriately representing Edgewood’s mission and philosophy.
- All other duties assigned by supervisor or other Edgewood Management.
Applied Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Two years of relevant experience working with children, youth, and families
- Bachelor's degree in a social service-related field required
- Own vehicle, California driver’s license and insurance
- Bilingual English Spanish preferred
- Flexible schedule with ability to work early mornings and evenings as needed
- Strong organization skills as demonstrated by the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and attend required meetings
- Must have demonstrated competence, reliability, and good writing skills in clinical documentation
- Must be considered in "good-standing" with current job performance, measured by dependability, punctuality, attendance at trainings and required meetings, superior communication skills, knowledge of program rules and crisis management skills
- Ability to work as a team player
- Ability to work with diverse populations
SALARY INFORMATION
This position has a hourly rate range of -$30.45-$33.50.English/Spanish bilingual language skills preferred. *Please note- the language differential is contingent on passing a language proficiency test.
