This position is responsible for front-end development and theming. This position requires a combination of programming skills (PHP, HTML5, CSS, JS, etc.) and aesthetics (understanding element arrangements on the screen, the color and font choices, and so on). The best candidates have a strong understanding of industry trends and content management systems. Experience with responsive design is strongly preferred. In addition, an understanding of the entire web development process, including design, development, and deployment, with some back-end knowledge, is preferred.

Principal Accountabilities
The principal accountabilities of the Web Developer include but are not limited to the following:
- Works with senior developers to maintain new and existing websites and applications
- Designs and develops modifications to websites using front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS, and Java Script
- Provides technical support for PHP-based web content management systems (Drupal, Word Press)
- Provides training for both technical and nontechnical staff
- Coordinates with Service Desk staff to address issues with web applications and service delivery
- Creates and updates technical documentation and training resources.
- Contributes to discussion of emerging technologies and how they might be used to benefit organizational goals
- Assists project managers in gathering requirements/specifications, as needed
- Works with Senior Web Developers on web development projects to achieve University goals
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
The successful candidate for this position will hold either a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or a Certificate in Web Development. Equivalent work experience may be substituted. The Web Developer must be proficient in front-end development using HTML5, CSS, XML and Java Script and can write Java Script with and without the frameworks such as j Query. Experience designing and developing responsive design websites, the ability to understand CSS changes to have consistent style across platforms and browsers, and the ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages. Experience working with Drupal and Bootstrap framework preferred.
The ideal candidate is a team player with experience collaborating across departments/teams to ensure successful delivery of solutions; an individual with excellent communication skills who is able to explain technical concepts with easy to understand language to assist non-technically oriented employees and who has the desire and ability to learn new technologies; and is a self-starter with the ability to appropriately prioritize and plan complex work and to demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem solving aptitude. Working Environment
Regular attendance at assigned job site and the ability to work collaboratively with co-workers and constituents are essential functions of this position. Eligible for hybrid remote work schedule following 90 days of employment.
