Position Summary:
The President of the Wastewater Utility Company is responsible for leading the strategic direction, operations, and management of the company’s wastewater treatment and utility services across multiple states. The ideal candidate will ensure the reliable, compliant, and efficient management of wastewater services while driving operational excellence and future growth. The President will work closely with regulatory agencies, engineering teams, and management to maintain and improve wastewater infrastructure. Experience in utility management, wastewater operations, and engineering is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities: 1. Strategic Leadership:
- Lead the development and implementation of strategic goals to improve operational performance and customer service.
- Oversee the planning and execution of capital projects, including expansion and upgrades of wastewater treatment facilities.
- Establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, regulators, and stakeholders across Tennessee, Alabama, and Ohio.
2. Operational Management:
- Ensure the efficient, compliant, and sustainable operation of wastewater treatment plants and utility services.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for operations, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Oversee the development of operational policies, procedures, and performance metrics to achieve regulatory and customer service goals.
3. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to wastewater treatment, environmental protection, and utility operations.
- Serve as the point of contact for regulatory bodies in Tennessee, Alabama, and Ohio, ensuring adherence to environmental standards and reporting requirements.
4. Financial Management:
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to ensure cost-effective operations and financial stability.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance revenue streams and manage operational costs.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure timely reporting and analysis of financial performance.
5. Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of managers, engineers, and operators to maintain high standards of performance and morale.
- Promote a culture of safety, innovation, and excellence in operations and customer service.
- Build an inclusive work environment that attracts and retains top talent.
6. Customer and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build strong relationships with municipal partners, customers, and stakeholders to maintain high levels of service and satisfaction.
- Respond to customer needs and concerns related to wastewater services and utility operations.
- Represent the company at public meetings, industry conferences, and other events.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or related field. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in utility operations, wastewater management, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing multi-state operations and driving operational improvements.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations governing wastewater utilities.
- Experience working with public and private stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and utility boards.
- Background in engineering or environmental systems is highly preferred.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets, capital projects, and financial performance.
