DESCRIPTION

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Deputy Chief of Training to work in the Fire Department. You will work a 4x10 schedule located out of our Central Facilities Area with every other Friday off.

You will manage the fire department training division to ensure that personnel are well trained to effectively, efficiently, and safely execute all responsibilities consistent with the department’s emergency services requirements involving a full spectrum of hazards. You will report to the Fire Chief.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage the activities of a department or a discipline through subordinate supervisors and/or professionals. Provide guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies.
  • Responsible for the effective operation of activities of major significance to the organization. Decisions impact others in the immediate team and influences methods and techniques.
  • Execute financials, business planning, organizational priorities, and workforce. Ensure that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained.
  • Typically manage employees who perform similar tasks. May manage supervisors, exempt, and non-exempt staff.
  • Receive objective based assignments and determine resources to meet schedules and goals.
  • Responsible for single function, location, and/or technical discipline.
  • Recommend changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect department or multiple disciplines. Participate in the development of overall objectives and long-term goals of the department and possibly the division.
  • Interact frequently with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group professionals, involving matters between sections and multiple units.
  • Partner with key contacts outside own area of expertise and other external stakeholders.
  • Communicate and present results and recommendations across discipline.
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 9 years of experience OR 15 years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • At least two years of leadership/management experience is required.
  • International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) Instructor 1 and Fire Officer 1 required.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Job Information:
  • The target pay range for this position is $123,735 - $185,631 annually. The full pay range is $103,032 - $262,740. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • You are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
