Position Summary:
Arts & Science is seeking a dedicated Department Administrator to join the Department of Politics. This individual will develop and manage the operations of graduate and undergraduate academic programs in collaboration with program and department leadership. Implement and oversee department's academic policies and procedures. Manage program budgets to ensure all program event costs, graduate student awards, and adjunct salaries are accurately implemented and tracked. Assist the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) to oversee the academic process, funding, and financial aid for all doctoral students. Implement, in consultation with DGS, internal doctoral student policies made by the faculty. Manage the disbursement of financial aid for all doctoral students. Assist the DGS with admissions and degree completion processes. Assist DGS with course scheduling and teaching assignments to ensure compliance with policies and department needs. Support faculty Directors in faculty course assignments. Implement University-wide and GSAS (Graduate School of Arts & Science) changes in policies and procedures and recommend changes to departmental procedures to meet new guidelines. Serve as a liaison with other University departments and offices to resolve problems. Organize special events including those related to student recruitment. Supervise staff and prioritize assignments to ensure deadlines are met and review work for accuracy.
Qualifications:
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Education, Administration, or related field.
Required Experience:
3+ years relevant experience or an equivalent combination. Must include experience planning and implementing administrative activities and counseling students.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in a higher education environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to market programs, solve problems and communicate effectively to a diverse population. Proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
Additional Information:
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $75,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
