TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES MUNICIPAL SCHOOLS JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE OF JOB: Custodian QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Facilities Director, Facilities Coordinator JOB GOAL: To keep schools safe, clean and attractive in order that students can learn. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clean spills and messes when call upon to do so.
Complete all preventative maintenance work orders, fire lighting, fire extinguishers, etc.
Maintain all cleaning standards in cleaning standard packet given to you by supervisor.
Open all buildings and facilities at the beginning of the work day
Secure all buildings and facilities when not in use and at the end of the day, including equipment, appliances, machines, etc.
Keep all areas of the building(s) in sanitary condition; clean, sweep, mop, and disinfect daily
Keep all areas of the building(s) clean, neat and free of clutter, debris, etc.
Empty all wastebaskets daily
Keep all areas of the building, including window sills, bookshelves, etc. free from dust, webs, bugs, leaves, etc.
Clean windows daily
Keep the building free of fire hazards
Assist in setting up events as needed
Replace light bulbs, electronic device batteries, etc. as needed
Keep up with watering inside and outside, grass mowing, tree/shrub trimming, etc. as assigned by facilities director, facilities coordinator, site principal and superintendent.
Maintain a school-wide lost and found depository
Perform light maintenance as assigned by Administrators, Facilities Director, or Facilities Coordinator.
Strip, wax and shampoo floors yearly and as needed.
Perform all other duties as assigned by Superintendent, Facilities Director, Facilities Coordinator or Building Principal.
Must be on call when needed
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
The employee must lift and/or move 50-75 pounds occasionally, depending on assignment.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education’s policy. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary is established by salary schedule.
