Work is 1 hour before school and 1 hour after school.
Depending on elementary bell schedule and crossing location, approximately 7:50-8:50 or 8:20-9:20 a.m. AND 3:00-4:00 p.m. or 3:30-4:30 p.m.

New-to-District Classified employees may be eligible to receive credit for up to two years’ worth of credit for movement (steps) on the Classified Salary Schedule based on relevant prior work experience. Please complete the top portion of this form and provide it to your previous employer for completion. To qualify, newly hired employees must provide this form, completed by your former employer(s), to Human Resources no later than the date of their fingerprinting and appointment.

Index: 01/C/03 ($16.01/hour) to 01/C/05 ($17.31/hour) depending on verified experience for NEW to District Employees

Transferring employees or former District employees hired into this role will be placed on the “C" letter grade of the Classified Salary Schedule, but the initial step placement will vary based on a variety of factors.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Acceptable Experience & Training
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform as an effective and competent School Crossing Guard.
Knowledge of
- Basic traffic laws and procedures;
- Basic traffic control and pedestrian safety methods, techniques, and objectives;
- School and District rules, codes, standards, and expected student behaviors.
- Follow written and oral instructions and comply with District policies and procedures;
- Provide a safe environment for students crossing and waiting to cross streets to access school grounds;
- Discern and react appropriately to emergency or safety situations;
- Interact and work effectively with children;
- Prepare and maintain required records, files, reports, logs, statistics, and documentation;
- Operate standard crosswalk and related safety equipment;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers and staff members, and other District personnel;
- Maintain student, school, and parental confidentiality;
Ability to

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary function of an employee in this class is to provide a safe environment for students and assist them to cross streets. This position is supervised by the building Principal, along with oversight from the District’s Transportation, Traffic Safety, and Boundaries Department. The principle duties of the position are performed outdoors, which may expose the employee to inclement weather conditions and possible hazardous conditions from street traffic.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (will vary by assignment)
- Operate standard crosswalk and related safety equipment.
- Provide a safe environment for students to cross busy streets in a crosswalk, at a corner, traffic signal or other traffic control point, or other designated crossing point before and after school hours;
- Reports hazardous conditions, situations, drivers, and violations to the building Principal or police, as directed;
- Reports student disciplinary actions and violations to a supervisor or the building Principal; as directed;
- Maintain student and District confidentiality;
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with District policies, procedures, and safety practices;
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete District sponsored training;
- Performs other related duties as required.
